Bedtime routine
What is a sleep training clock app?
A sleep training clock gives children a visual cue for the part of the day they are in: it is still time to rest, bedtime is getting closer, or morning has started. It is a routine aid—not a promise that every night will go perfectly.
Why visual cues can help
Young children may not read a conventional clock or understand “just ten more minutes.” A consistent image, colour, or character can be easier to recognise. The important part is connecting that cue to the same simple family language each day.
How to introduce one
- Choose a wake-up time that fits your household and explain the cue during the day.
- Make the rule positive and concrete: when the morning screen appears, it is okay to call for a grown-up or start the day.
- Use the same cue at bedtime with a short countdown, then keep the room screen calm and predictable.
- Give it time. A clock works best as one part of a familiar bedtime routine.
What to look for in an app
- A clear child-facing display that is easy to recognise from across the room.
- Bedtime and wake-up controls that a parent can set without interrupting the child.
- A brightness level and theme that fit the room.
- A setup that works on a spare iPad or iPhone if you do not want another device to buy.
