How to use an old iPad as a nursery clock

An unused iPad can become a gentle visual anchor for a child’s bedtime routine. Rather than another piece of nursery hardware, it can show the countdown to bed and a clear signal for when morning begins.

Choose the right place

Place the iPad where it is visible from the bed but not reachable by a young child. A secure stand or wall mount is useful, and any charging cable should be routed safely and kept completely out of reach. Keep the brightness low enough for the room.

Set a simple routine

  1. Pick a calm bedtime theme your child enjoys.
  2. Use a short countdown as part of the final steps of the routine: pyjamas, story, then sleep screen.
  3. Set the wake-up cue to match the time your family considers morning.
  4. Keep your wording consistent: the clock tells us when it is time to rest and when it is time to get up.

Use the parent device for adjustments

A connected parent app means you can change a bedtime setting, dim the screen, or check the room without walking in and restarting the routine. It also makes the room iPad useful for more than one task.

Set up Nuzzla on a spare iPad

Nuzzla Clock turns the iPad into a themed sleep clock. Pair it with Nuzzla Parent to manage bedtime controls and check the room from your own device.
